The urban myth is that there are no real female rappers out there anymore. Not true. They’re there, you just have to look and not fall for the pre-packaged characters they only have playing on the radio.
One of those original voices is Tink who is the protege that producer Timbaland has been working closely with. Trinity Home aka Tink already has five mixtapes and her 2014 mixtape, Winter’s Diary 2: Forever Yours, was featured as a top 10 album in Rolling Stone and Billboard magazine.
Her recent freestyle on popular radio show Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club further inflamed the buzz around her. Her voice reminds me of Nicole Wray and the fact that they are both connected to Timbaland seems fitting. Better off, if you remember who Nicole Wray is, kudos!
Keeping with the connection with Timbaland and the sound that him and Missy became legends for, Tink just released a song ‘Million’ that samples the late Aaliyah’s chart topping song ‘One In Million’. When I first heard that she touched this precious song, I cringed. It’s like hearing that your favourite book is being turned into a movie. But I’m happy to say, she flipped the song to suit her while still paying homage.
Take it in and let me know what you think.
