Give me a good book and a good mug of coffee, and I’m blessed. Now give me an interview by two of my favourite modern authors discussing their work, feminism and fashion – well then I’m smitten.
About a month ago UK author Zadie Smith (White Teeth, On Beauty, Autograph Man) sat with Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie (Half of A Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus, Americanah) at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, NY.
After being introduced to Chimamanda’s work through Half of A Yellow Sun, I’ve been a fan and always enjoy hearing her speak. She’s witty, hilarious and a ‘hot babe’. There is strength to be found in seeing positive images of African women in the arts, and both through her interviews and the characters she writes about, Adichie is ever captivating in this interview.
